Paul Foster Case

Paul Foster Case was born in Fairport, New York. His mother was a teacher and his father was the head librarian of the town library, in which Paul Case was literally born. For a man whose thirst for hidden knowledge was unquenchable, he could not have been born into more fortunate circumstances. Paul learned to read at a very young age. By the age of four he was found pouring over “forbidden books” in the attic of his father’s library. He was also found to have extraordinary musical talent at an early age, and at the age of three began training in piano and organ. At the age of nine, he was the organist at the Congregational Church in which his father was deacon. At the age of seven, Case began correspondence with Rudyard Kipling, who verified the “fourth-dimensional” experiences Case was having as being not merely imaginary, but actual states of being. At this early age, Case found that he had the ability to consciously manipulate his dreams. At sixteen, Case met the occultist Claude Bragdon, as they had both donated their talents to a charity performance. It was in this meeting that Paul Case got his first “directive”. Bragdon asked Case, “Where do you think the playing cards come from?” This simple question sparked an immediate search for the origins and uses of Tarot.

Within a very short period of time, Case had collected every book and every set of Tarot Keys available. He spent years researching, studying, and meditating on these archetypal images.Case described his experience at the time as definitely “guided” by an inner voice. In his view, the experience with Tarot had stimulated an “inner hearing”, through which he was guided to the many attributes of Tarot which were published before he was 21 years old. Perhaps Eliphas Levi’s statement on Tarot best summarized its influence on the young Paul Case: “As an erudite Kabalistic book… A prisoner devoid of books, had he only a Tarot of which he knew how to make use, could in a few years acquire a universal science, and converse with unequaled doctrine and inexhaustible eloquence.”……..

Steve Reich – Music for 18 Musicians

Steve Reich “Music for 18 Musicians” – Section IIIA

Music for 18 Musicians is a seminal work of musical minimalism composed by Steve Reich during 1974-1976. Its world premiere was on April 24, 1976 at Town Hall, New York.

The piece is based around a cycle of eleven chords. A small piece of music is based around each chord, and the piece returns to the original cycle at the end. The sections are aptly named “Pulses,” and Section I-XI. This was Reich’s first attempt at writing for larger ensembles, and the extension of performers resulted in a growth of psycho-acoustic effects, which fascinated Reich, and he noted that he would like to “explore this idea further”. A prominent factor in this work is the augmentation of the harmonies and melodies and the way that they develop this piece. Another important factor in the piece is the use of human breath, used in the clarinets and voices, which help structure and bring a pulse to the piece. The player plays the pulsing note for as long as he can hold it, while each chord is melodically deconstructed by the ensemble, along with augmentation of the notes held. The metallophone (unplugged vibraphone), is used to cue the ensemble to change patterns or sections.

The Big Bang or an Infinite Cycle?

Scientists are messing with our poor simple minds again! Young, hip (relatively speaking) physicists are making a case that the universe may not have started with the “big bang” at all. They believe that the universe may undergo endless cycles of evolution in infinite space and time.

One hotly disputed theory is that there is no beginning, and no end because space and time have always existed in an endless cycle of expansion and rebirth. They point out that the expansion of the universe is accelerating, as astronomers have recently observed and that after trillions of years, expansion eventually stalls, new matter and radiation is created, and then the cycle begins yet again.

Ahura Mazda

The faravahar, also called farohar or froohar, is the emblem of the Zoroastrian faith. The early Persian kings embraced this ancient religion, one of the world’s oldest monotheistic religions and the foundation upon which many tenets of Judaism, Christianity and Islam were built.

In the center of the figure is a circle which represents the soul of the individual. For the soul to evolve and progress, it has two wings. In each wing there are five layers of feathers. The two long curved legs on either side of the circle represent the two opposing forces of good and evil. To help the soul balance itself between these two forces, the soul is given a tail with three layers of feathers, representing the creed of  Humata (Good Thoughts), Hukhta (Good Words), and Hvarasta (Good Deeds), or Manashni, Gavashni, and Kunashni. The head of the figure represents the free will each individual has to choose either to obey divine universal natural laws or to disobey them. Finally, the circular ring represents the cycle of birth and death defining the soul’s progress.

The image above represent the faravahar as it appears at the city of Persepolis, the Persian capital founded by Darius I as a tribute to Ahura Mazda, the Zoroastrian deity.

Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi

Thinking gives off smoke to prove the existence of fire. A mystic sits inside the burning. There are wonderful shapes in rising smoke that imagination loves to watch. But it’s a mistake to leave the fire for that filmy sight. Stay here at the flame’s core.

Codex Alimentarius – Ian Crane Podcast

http://www.foodcode.blogspot.com/

More and more people are becoming concerned about the shady, secretive organization that is Codex Alimentarius – the thinly-veiled propaganda arm of the international pharmaceutical industry that does everything it can to promote industry objectives whilst limiting individual options to maintain health (which would diminish mermbers profits).

Codex alimentarius is one of the major bodies behind the effort to limit access to nutritional products and information. Its motivation is not rocket science and neither is the source of its funding – money that somehow expected to return a profit to its members … Most of the information available regarding codex alimentarius refers to its role in the USA, but it is not a US-specific body. Far from it, Codex has wiggled its dirty little tentacles into just about every national or international body concerned with public health. Posing as a benefactor, it then uses its significant financial and political clout to do its masters bidding.

LCROSS – Mission to Search for Water on the Moon

The LCROSS mission was designed to search for water on the moon by sending a rocket crashing into the moon, causing a big impact, and creating a crater throwing tons of debris and potentially water ice and vapor above the lunar surface. This impact released materials from the lunar surface that were analyzed for the presence of hydrated minerals to tell researchers if water is there or not. The two main components of the LCROSS mission were the Shepherding Spacecraft (S-S/C) and the Centaur upper stage rocket. The Shepherding Spacecraft guided the rocket to a site selected on the moon with a high probability of containing water. Because they had only one chance with this mission in finding water, the researchers had to be very precise where they programmed the Shepherding Spacecraft to guide the rocket.

The Shepherding Spacecraft and Centaur rocket were launched together with another spacecraft called the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). All three were connected to each other for launch, but then the LRO separates one hour after launch. The Shepherding Spacecraft guided the Centaur rocket through multiple Earth orbits, each taking about 38 days. The rocket then separated from the Shepherding Spacecraft and impacted the Moon at more than twice the speed of a bullet, causing an impact that resulted in a big plume or cloud of lunar debris. While this was happening the Shepherding Spacecraft, which had scientific instruments on-board including cameras, took pictures of the rocket’s descent and impact into the moon. Four minutes later, the Shepherding Spacecraft followed almost the exact same path as the rocket, descending down through the plume and analyzing it with special instruments. The analysis specifically looked for water (ice and vapor), hydrocarbons and hydrated materials.
