Marcahuasi Project – Public Google Maps collection of worldwide archaeological sites

(From the Marcahuasi homepage) Welcome to the Marcahuasi Project – a public collection of markers on Google Maps to get a decent display of ancient archaeological, megalithic, religious, mysterious and unexplained sites found all over the world.

The project was started by Jaimy Visser on April 4th, 2012, and has grown tremendously since then. Currently it has well over 750 locations marked and it’s still growing.

The purpose of this project is to make it easier to get into archeology, since most people don’t want to take the time to search through mountains of text to find something relevant to their interest. Each marker has got its’ respective Wikipedia page URL within it, meaning you can easily access more information about the location within 3 clicks of your mouse.
